In the month of January 2024, we had the privilege of celebrating two significant events that hold great cultural and religious importance namely Makara Sankranti and Ayodhya Ram Mandir Pranpratishtha Ceremony. Both were observed with immense joy and reverence, bringing our community together in a shared spirit of devotion and celebration.

For Makara Sankranti, we were blessed to have Pt. Shri Baldath Maharaj Ji, founder and spiritual leader of the Florida Sevashram Sangha and an undisputed scholar in religion officiate at the event. As he explained Makar Sankranti marks the transition of the sun into the zodiac sign of Capricorn. It is a time of joy, unity, and renewal, as families and friends come together to celebrate the abundance of nature and the warmth of relationships. Puja was performed to the various deities and a grand Hawan performed under the clear blue sky. He chanted Vishnu Sahasranaam and special mantras to Surya Bhagawan and Hanuman Ji also, as devotees made offerings into the sacred fire expressing gratitude and seeking blessings for a prosperous future. His lively spirit together with his heart rendering bhajans created such an energized environment tears of joy just flowed.

Ayodhya Ram Mandir Pranpratishtha, holds immense significance for the Hindu community across the world. To be a part of that historic celebration Ramayan Satsangh was held on January 19th. The short discourse consisted of six chaupais and one doha covering all seven "kaands" of the Shri Ramcharitamanas. Each chosen couplet emphasized an aspect of life. Baalkand - the importance of the guru and spiritual teaching at an early age. Ayodhyakaand - the importance of parental blessings. Aranyakaand- Lord's relationship with a devotee Shabari. Kishkindakaand- How we should approach God. In Sunderkaand the Doha was chosen where Hanuman politely refused the invitation to rest so that he can fulfill his mission. Lankakaand - emphasized brotherhood and finally in Uttarkaand- the importance of having a human birth.

From 11:00pm Sunday 21st. January, Satsangh and Puja was held concurrently with the actual happenings in Ayodhya. As Ram Lala was unveiled in Ayodhya devotees performed puja and made offerings to our beautifully decked murti at the mandir imbibing the energy of that historic event into our Rama. Celebration of these events together reminds us of our blessings, the power of our faith, our cultural roots and collective aspirations for a harmonius and prosperous society May the blessings of Makara Sankranti and the divine energy of Ayodhya Ram Mandir Pranpratishtha continue to fill our hearts with joy, peace, and prosperity.
